I find, collect and photograph materials from my studio floor, such as paper scraps, paint splatters, old drawings, and studio trash. I document these accidental and fragile moments together and combine them with hardware store paint samples. Often, the commercialized phrases that should entice a customer to choose their new bedroom wall color also function as pseudo-poetic titles. I alter the context of presentation and interject my own free association between text and color. These odd couples jumble the vernacular of painting with formal abstraction.
